🔥

Igniter & Flame Sensor

The hot surface igniter and flame sensor are the most common furnace failures. Symptoms: furnace won't light, lights then shuts off immediately, or cycles on and off rapidly.

Igniter $180–$280 · Flame Sensor $150–$240
🌀

Blower Motor & Capacitor

The blower circulates warm air through your home. A failed motor or capacitor causes weak airflow, no airflow, or a furnace that heats but can't distribute the air.

Blower Motor $320–$580 · Capacitor $90–$180
⚙️

Draft Inducer Motor

The draft inducer pulls combustion gases out before ignition. A failed inducer prevents the furnace from starting the ignition sequence. Common symptom: humming sound, then nothing.

$350–$620
🔌

Control Board & Gas Valve

The control board coordinates every furnace function. A failed board often presents with error codes, intermittent behavior, or multiple simultaneous failures.

Control Board $380–$680 · Gas Valve $280–$520
🏠

Heat Exchanger Evaluation

A cracked heat exchanger can allow carbon monoxide into your living space — a serious safety issue. We inspect every heat exchanger thoroughly and give you an honest recommendation.

Is Your Furnace Doing This?

These symptoms mean it's time to call. Don't wait — many small furnace issues become larger (and more expensive) problems when ignored.

Furnace won't turn on at all

Could be igniter, control board, thermostat, or gas supply issue

Turns on but shuts off after a few minutes

Classic flame sensor failure — inexpensive repair, very common

Blowing cold or lukewarm air

Igniter not firing, gas valve issue, or heat exchanger problem

Furnace is running but rooms aren't getting warm

Blower motor failing, duct leak, or filter clog restricting airflow

Banging, rattling, or squealing sounds

Blower wheel, motor bearings, or loose heat exchanger — don't ignore

Carbon monoxide detector alarmed

Evacuate immediately — call us for emergency heat exchanger inspection

Yellow or orange burner flame

Should be blue — yellow/orange can indicate combustion or CO issue

Short cycling (turning on & off frequently)

Overheating, dirty filter, or heat exchanger — causes early system failure

Furnace Repair FAQ

Honest answers to the questions homeowners ask most about furnace repair.

Furnace acting up right now?

Don't wait — a furnace problem that starts small can become a no-heat emergency. Call us and we'll get someone out today.

Call (555) 010-0100

The most common culprits are a failed igniter, a tripped safety switch (often from a dirty filter), a gas supply issue, or a control board problem. Before calling, check that your thermostat is set to heat and the filter isn't clogged — a totally blocked filter can cause the furnace to overheat and trip a safety shutoff.

A good rule of thumb: if the repair cost exceeds 50% of the replacement cost and the furnace is over 15 years old, replacement usually makes more financial sense. We'll give you our honest recommendation — we won't push a repair that doesn't make sense just to close a service call. And we won't push replacement when a simple fix will extend the system several more years.

Very. A cracked heat exchanger can allow combustion gases — including carbon monoxide — to mix with the air circulating through your home. CO is colorless and odorless. If we find a cracked heat exchanger, we're required by law to shut the system down. We'll inspect thoroughly and give you an honest assessment of whether repair or replacement makes more sense.

This is classic flame sensor failure. The flame sensor verifies that the burner has ignited, and if it's coated with residue it can't "see" the flame — so the control board shuts things down as a safety measure. Cleaning or replacing the flame sensor is one of our most common and least expensive furnace repairs.

Yes — we service all major brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, American Standard, Goodman, York, Bryant, and more. Our trucks stock parts for the most common failures across all brands. If we need a specialty part, we'll source it and schedule a return visit.

You can safely change filters, check thermostat settings, and reset a tripped circuit breaker. Anything involving the gas line, heat exchanger, electrical components, or refrigerant requires a licensed technician — and many repairs will void your warranty if done by an unlicensed person. When in doubt, call us. The diagnostic visit is included when you approve a repair.
